Broadview’s history

Collection

Broadview's story is tied closely to the railway. In 1882 it was the western end of the Canadian Pacific Railway line, and it later became a major divisional point for the CPR on the route between Regina and Winnipeg. The original rail grade was abandoned in favour of a better one, and a historical marker now commemorates the old track. In 1925 the time zone changed at Broadview, from Central Standard Time to Mountain Standard Time. The CPR station building was declared a historic railway station in 1992.
